We are now recruiting for our brand new winterguard group who will represent birmingham in WinterGuard UK. We will rehearse every Saturday, 10am-4pm at The North Birmingham Academy. This is open for all aspiring dancers from the age of 11 upwards. No experience is necessary as we provide advanced instruction.

The group will explore a range of dance using equipment such as flags and rifles, creating a final product of display that will be used in competition. It is a great opportunity for anybody to learn a new style of dance, get fit and meet some great new friends!

Please come along to our first rehearsal on Saturday 24th October at The North Birmingham Academy, 395 College Rd, Birmingham, B44 0HF. Please arrive at 10am to be welcomed and introduced to brand new dancers who will be the first ever 'Beeches Winterguard', dressed in appropriate clothes. We suggest a loose fitted tshirt, leggings, short or tracksuit bottoms and sensible trainers. Also bring along a packed lunch and plenty of liquids!

Do not miss out on this amazing opportunity!

BYBA Premier Class League Champions!

Posted on the 7th October 2015 in the category Videos

We are very happy to announce that we have been crowned BYBA Premier Class Champions for 2015 with a score of 68.383, a whole point ahead of the runners up!  - what an achievement this is for all our young members!

With our 2015 show The Sword, we competed in finals and came a very respectable third place, winning our sections of Brass and Percussion! We also won the overall achievement award for best music of the day! 2015 has been a brilliant year for all. We set out to just compete in BYBA with no colourguard - but still made it to the open class in DCUK, making history and placing 7th in the country!

With our final BYBA performance, it saw a successful year come to an end, finishing our story of the battle of the sword, with evil defeating good, something which is inevitable in life at times!

Who knows what 2016 will bring!

DCUK competition - 4th July

Blue Devils International Clinic

Our members got to take part in a clinic instructed by DCI staff guided by members who have marched in the world champion performances by Blue Devils! It was a surreal experience for our brass, battery and frontline members.

Percussion and frontline learnt a range of basic techniques and warm ups as well as learning some top tips from top class drummers. Brass were taught warm up techniques, involving breathing exercises, tonality exercises and various warm up music patterns. We then got to experience what it's like to play two songs alongside our talented UK guests - unreal! We played Eternal Father and When a man love's a woman, two performances which our members have watched in awe on youtube many times.

We then all came together and did a show and tell. What a proud moment!

Our performance

After the amazing experience with BDI, it was now time for our performance. It seemed like a very long day for our marching members, but they fought through the tiredness and performed brilliantly - with a fantastic, supportive audience. After watching performances from top quality bands; Jubal, The Company, Kidsgrove, Juliana and then BDI, our excited members then found out our results.

We came an amazing 8th out of 12th place - which was very unexpected considering we had no competing guard so it was inevitably going to be a tough competition. Again, being successful in Brass and percussion placings!

First competition champions!

Our first BYBA/DCUK competition saw us take 1st place in BYBA premier class, taking captions in Brass, Percussion, Music effect, Visual effect and visual analysis.

After our repeat winner's performance, we then performed for our DCUK. After a tiring day, we came away with 5th place, with a great score considering we have no competing guard. We came away with 3rd place captions in Brass and percussion which gives us great hope for the future!

Our performers did 3 great performances - who knows what this season will hold!
